In 2022, the festival will be held with different content. samurai profession, parade of matsuri floats and Yabusame will not be held.Below is an example for 2019, when covid19 had no impact.

The Date Samurai Musha festival is held on the first weekend of August every year.
Cool and dry, one of the best time to visit the area.

Day 0: Pre event : Friday evening, Aug. 2nd, 2019

Music,Stage performances, Food stands & Beer

5 pm – 9 pm at the Date Culture Center


Day 1 : Saturday, Aug. 3rd , 2019

Dashi, Dance, & Foods tands

Main event of the day, ‘Dashi’ starting from Date-monbetsu station at 6 pm, parading toward the city hall.
Recommended spots to enjoy the parade will be, the station at 6 pm when it starts, or the intersection between the city hall and Ajirocho shopping street around 7 pm.


Day 2 : Sunday, Aug. 4th , 2019

Samurai procession, Yabusame, & Traditional dance etc.

Main event of the day, ‘Samurai procession’ starting from Date elementary school at 12 am, parading toward the city hall.
Recommended spots to enjoy the parade will be, Date elementary school at 12 am when it starts, or the intersection between the city hall and Ajirocho shopping street 12:10 am.
After the ‘Samurai procession’, come to Date Culture Center, the main site of the festival. Here you can see the ‘Yabusame’ performance(horseback archery) from 1:15 pm.
